Elements of the judicial police of the province of Tamanrasset managed to dismantle a criminal network specialized in illegal speculation in pharmaceutical materials, according to a statement issued Thursday by the communication cell of the same province.
The case was discovered by the units of mobile patrols of the criminal squad s of the Tamanrasset security services, when a vehicle (small truck) loaded with large cardboard boxes caught their attention and in which they seized a large quantity of locally produced medicines of various brands and sizes without invoices. The suspects were transferred to the police headquarters where an investigation was opened into the case, according to the same source.
The investigation enabled to identify another party to the case and to find out the location of the warehouse where the medicines were stored. 40 other cartons of various sizes were found, seized and transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation, according to the same source.
The parties to the case were presented before the competent judicial authorities on charges related to the formation of a gang for the purpose of preparing a crime, illegal speculation in pharmaceutical materials, smuggling, creating a hideout for smuggling, tax evasion, non-invoicing (non-billing), and serious harm to the national economy, as was indicated.
