The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed deep concern about the developments in Sudan and called on all Sudanese parties to abide by the constitutional document signed in 2019.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed the need for all Sudanese parties to abide by the constitutional document that was signed in August 2019 with the participation of the international community and the Arab League, as well as the Juba Peace Agreement of 2020.
An official source in the Arab League said: “There are no problems that cannot be resolved without dialogue, and it is important to respect all decisions and agreements that have been agreed upon regarding the transitional period, leading to holding elections on their scheduled dates, and to refrain from any measures that would disrupt the transitional period or shake stability in the country.”
Today, the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, witnessed military movements, after which a number of ministers were arrested, including Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok and other civilian leaders.
