The official visit of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the State of Kuwait since yesterday, Tuesday, culminated in a final joint statement issued today, Wednesday, the full text of which is:
“As part of the well-established historical relations and the close fraternal ties that link the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the sisterly State of Kuwait, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid an official visit to Kuwait on February 22 and 23, 2022, at the kind invitation of his brother, His Highness, the Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The President of the Republic offered his warmest congratulations and best wishes of health and wellness to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and more progress and prosperity to the brotherly Kuwaiti people, on the occasion of the double anniversary of the National Day and Liberation Day of the sisterly State of Kuwait, hailing in the same context, the distinguished level of democratic culture and practice in Kuwaiti society and institutions.
The meeting that brought President Abdelmadjid Tebboune together with His Highness, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the talks he held with His Highness, the Crown Prince, Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, were marked by a total convergence views and positions on all issues of concern to the two sister countries in their bilateral relations or with regard to the current situation on the Arab arena and the prospects for strengthening joint Arab action in light of the two countries’ firm commitment to the values of solidarity and unity and their relentless efforts to promote approaches based on dialogue and reconciliation to resolve crises.
The talks also confirmed the two sides’ attachment to the distinguished level achieved by the relations of cooperation and brotherliness between the two countries in light of the strict follow-up and the great support of their leadership, which stressed, on this occasion, the need to give greater impetus to bilateral cooperation in all fields, taking into account the qualitative leap achieved by the two countries’ economies and the tremendous potential and opportunities that it generated and which should be used to serve the interests of the two countries.
The two sides affirmed their determination to work in all aspects likely to strengthen the brotherly relations between them and move them to new horizons and set appropriate mechanisms and agreements that reflect this desire, consolidate political consultation and coordination and encourage direct investments for the public and private sectors. It was also agreed to urge economic operators to exploit the investment opportunities available in the two countries, while directing the two governments to take appropriate measures to provide the necessary support and the most appropriate climate for a successful investment.
In the field of hydrocarbons, the two parties agreed to enhance investment opportunities and exchange experiences. The Kuwaiti side also expressed its gratitude for Algeria’s support for the candidate of the State of Kuwait, who was elected as head of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries “OPEC”.
With regard to humanitarian ties, the two sides noted the distinguished role of the Algerian community settled in Kuwait and its qualitative contributions to the renaissance of Kuwait and to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two sister countries.
At the regional and international level, the two sides reviewed, through consultation and coordination, the situation prevailing in the Arab world and the need to redouble efforts to promote joint Arab action to face up the common challenges besetting the Arab countries. In this regard, the political leadership of the State of Kuwait commended the efforts of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune which aim to make successful the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria, expressing its full support and full readiness to contribute to this noble endeavor, with the aim of agreeing on outcomes that live up to the aspirations of the Arab peoples.
The two sides also stressed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the need to revive efforts to support the brotherly Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights, foremost of which is their right to establish their independent and sovereign state based on the 1967 borders with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital, in accordance with the relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
In this regard, the President of the Republic informed the Emir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and his Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, about Algeria’s endeavors to strengthen Palestinian national unity, thus complementing the efforts initiated by many Arab countries.
In light of their common interest in issues of peace and development, especially in Africa, and their keenness to strengthen the Arab-African partnership, the two sides agreed on cooperation and coordination between the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the Algerian Agency of International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, in the field of supporting development projects in African countries, especially the Sahel and Sahara countries.
At the end of the visit, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his thanks and appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality he, and his accompanying delegation received, and invited his brother, His Highness, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to pay a visit to Algeria. His Highness welcomed the invitation whose date will be determined at a later stage through diplomatic channels.
