Twenty-five (25) people lost their lives and 1,128 others were injured in 1,081 traffic accidents across several provinces of the country during the period from 15 to 21 January, the Civil Protection said Tuesday in its weekly report.
The heaviest toll was recorded in Tiaret province with 4 people killed and 11 injured in 14 traffic accidents, the same source said.
The Civil Protection units responded, in addition, during the same period, to rescue 438 people in danger and to carry out 4,995 various assistance operations.
They also extinguished 648 urban, industrial and other fires, the largest of which were recorded in the provinces of Algiers (105 fires), Oran (42) and Blida (30).
