Traffic accidents: 25 deaths and 1055 injuries in one week

Twenty-five (25) people died and 1,055 others were injured in traffic accidents that occurred nationwide during the period from 3 to 9 April, said Tuesday a statement from the Directorate General of Civil Protection.

The heaviest toll was recorded in Bouira province with 4 people killed at the site of an accident and 25 others injured, following 18 road accidents, the same source said.

Civil Protection personnel also carried out 4,700 operations to assist people, as well as rescuing 418 people in danger. In this regard, they provided first aid to eight (08) people affected by carbon monoxide (CO) emanating from heating appliances and water heaters in their homes across the provinces of Blida, Bouira, Médéa and M’Sila.

Finally, the Civil Protection rescue services also extinguished 379 urban, industrial and other fires, the most important of which were recorded in the province of Algiers with 69 incidents, concluded the same source.
