Traffic accidents: 5 people killed and 172 others injured in last 24 hours

Five people were killed and 172 others sustained injuries of varying severity in various parts of the country during the last 24 hours, according to what was reported by the civil protection services in a communiqué.

The same source added that during the same period, bodies of two dead people who drowned in the sea were recovered in the provinces of Oran, which counted the drowning of a 25-year-old young man in Beauséjour Beach (Municipality of Ain el-Turk), and in the province of Ain Temouchent, where the death of a 57-year-old was recorded.

On the other hand, the National Protection Units extinguished six (6) industrial and other urban fires in Boumerdes, Bordj Bou Arreridj, M’sila, Mila, as well as Tiaret provinces.

With regard to activities related to the prevention of the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, civil protection units, during the last 24 hours, carried out 45 awareness-raising operations across 3 provinces (50 municipalities) for the benefit of citizens, urging them, and reminding them, of the need to respect quarantine rules as well as social distancing.

These activities also included carrying out 11 sterilization operations across one  province (07 municipalities) through public facilities and structures, especially residential complexes and streets, where the General Directorate of Civil Protection allocated for these two operations 150 aides of various ranks, 16 ambulances and 15 fire trucks, with 20 security devices placed in the quarantine place, in the provinces of Algiers, Constantine and Oran, for expatriates coming from outside the country.
