
Algerians Cylia Ouikane (-50 kg, U21) and Louiza Abouriche (-55 kg, U21), won two gold medals at the Karate Do World Championships (cadets, juniors and under 21) which take place in Konya in Turkey.
Cylia Ouikane defeated Moroccan Hiba Fellaoui in the final, while her compatriot Louiza Abouriche beat Kazakh Bella Samasheva.
It is the third Algerian gold medal at this world meeting after that of karateka Nazim Douadi who had dominated on Saturday the Turkish Ogragli Mostapha Islam (2-0), in the category of less than 63 kg (kumite cadets boys ).
For their part, Ines Sarah Ounnas (-48 kg, junior girls) and Kenza Yahiaoui (-53 kg, junior girls) finished the competition in 5th place, after losing their fight for the bronze medal, respectively, against the Italian Emma Colletti and the Slovenian Nina Knaksinokova.
Algeria took part in the 12th edition of the 2022 Karate-Do Worlds in the cadet, junior and under-21 (U21) categories, which take place until October 30 in Konya (Turkey), with a group composed of 28 athletes.
In addition to Algeria, this international competition records the participation of more than 1900 karatekas representing 111 countries.
