Terrorist cell belonging to terrorist organization Rachad dismantled

A terrorist cell belonging to the terrorist organization Rashad has been dismantled by the National Gendarmerie services in Oran (432-km west of Algiers), the Ministry of National Defence MND said Wednesday in a statement.

“As part of the fight against terrorism and subversive actions against the security and stability of our country, the services of the National Gendarmerie of Oran (2nd Military Region) have dismantled a terrorist cell operating for the benefit of the terrorist organization Rachad,” the same source said.

“This quality operation resulted in the arrest of nine (9) individuals, including dangerous members, and presented them before the public prosecutor at the court of Gdyel in Oran, who ordered the provisional detention of six (6) of them, and the placing under control of the three (3) others,” the statement added.

According to the MND, “the accused are being prosecuted for joining a terrorist organisation that targets state security, national unity and institutional stability, as well as for using communication and information technologies to recruit individuals, support the criminal actions of this organisation and disseminate these extremist ideologies through subversive publications and propaganda likely to cause prejudice to the supreme interest and national defence.

According to the MND, “the accused are being prosecuted for joining a terrorist organisation that targets state security, national unity and institutional stability, as well as for using communication and information technologies to recruit individuals, support the criminal actions of this organisation and disseminate these extremist ideologies through subversive publications and propaganda that would prejudice the supreme interest and national defence”.

“This operation comes in the dynamic of the efforts provided, without respite, by the competent services of the National People’s Army in order to defeat all means of support and logistics to terrorism and multiform organised crime, and to ensure the security and stability of our country and the safeguarding of our national unity,” concluded the MND.
