The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion confirmed today, Saturday that Algeria, which expects its non-hydrocarbon exports to rise to more than $4 billion by the end of 2021, is betting on the sustainability of this growth in the coming years.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the Algeria Investment Conference held at the International Conference Center in Algiers, Kamel Rezig said that “the biggest burden that falls on the government today is the sustainability of the growth recorded in the field of non-hydrocarbon exports in the coming years.”
In this context, he mentioned that Algerian non-oil exports managed in 2020 to cross the threshold of $2 billion before rising in 2021 to $3.4 billion until September, while it is expected to range between $4 and 4.5 billion by the end of the year.
He stated, “We hope that these numbers will double and maintain their rise in the coming years.”
Kamel Rezig pointed out that these data pave the way for Algeria to raise its share in the African market, which is estimated at $300 billion.
In this regard, he highlighted the expected participation of Algerian dealers in the various exhibitions and demonstrations that will be organized in Africa to promote national products, especially in South Africa and Senegal.
Speaking about the export promotion strategy, the minister referred to the extensive “purification” process of the various legal texts regulating this field.
He added that this workshop is still ongoing, and a progress rate of more than 70 percent is currently known.
