Arkab: Energy and mines sector a great opportunities for cooperation between Algeria and Turkey

Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkba, stressed the importance of cooperation opportunities between Algeria and Turkey in the energy and mines sector, mainly in hydrocarbons and petrochemicals.

In a speech during the 11th session of the Algerian-Turkish joint governmental committee on economic, scientific and technical cooperation, Mr. Arkab explained that “the energy and mines is one of the most promising sectors that offer great and important opportunities for cooperation between Algeria and Turkey”.

“Algeria is working in the field of hydrocarbons to strengthen prospecting and mining efforts to replenish the country’s reserves of hydrocarbons and to establish an effective petrochemical industry in order to value the country’s mineral resources,” he said.

By adopting Algeria’s new hydrocarbon law, “the country seeks to reach new horizons for cooperation and provide a more attractive environment for investment and partnership” the minister added.

In the same context, Tosyali’s investment plan for a total of 1.7 billion USD for the production of flat steel in Oran represents “a successful example that encourages to explore new opportunities for win-win partnership and to welcome Turkish companies and investments in Algeria in the future”.

For his part, the Turkish minister of energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmez, highlighted the development of cooperation relations between the two countries and expressed the hope that the 12th session of the same committee will be held in Turkey “within the next year”.

Mr. Dunams explained that Turkish investments in Algeria aspire not only to meet local market needs but also to reach the markets of the regional countries.
