Seven (7) people lost their lives and four (4) others were injured, to varying degrees of severity, in a road accident on Friday morning on the section of the RN16 linking the wilayas of El-Oued and Tébessa, reported the Civil Protection services.
The accident occurred 10 km from the village of Douilet, in the town of Ben-Guecha (160 km from El-Oued), going towards the wilaya of Tébessa, following a violent collision between two tourist vehicles, due to speeding, according to the first elements of the investigation, revealed the director of Civil Protection of El-Oued, Commander Ahmed Badji.
The bodies of the victims were deposited at the local public health establishment of Taleb-Larbi, before being transferred to the morgue of the “Benamar Djilani” public hospital establishment in El-Oued, while the injured received the first care on site and then evacuated to the hospital, he said.
An investigation was immediately opened by the territorially competent security services to determine the exact circumstances of this road tragedy.
