Ministry of Finance: Economic growth is expected to rise to 4.2 percent during 2021

Algeria’s economic growth has increased and is expected to reach +4.2% in 2021, while the hydrocarbon sector is expected to grow by 10.1%, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance today, Wednesday.

The ministry clarified that this rise in economic growth, estimated at +3.98% in the 2021 Finance Law, “is linked to the gradual return to economic activity following the improvement of the health situation as a result of the decline in the incidence of the pandemic.”

According to the same source, this improvement will be supported mainly by “the improvement in the growth of the hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon sector, which is expected to reach, respectively, 10.1% and +3.2%.”

Thus, the growth rate outside hydrocarbons is expected to reach “+3.2% in the Supplementary Finance Law 2021, compared to +2.4% set in the 2021 Finance Law, taking into account the resumption of the activity of the construction sectors (+3.8%) and commercial services (+3.6%).”
