The Moroccan delegation to the Al-Quds Committee, which it ensures the chairmanship, is trying to turn a blind eye to the situation prevailing in Al-Aqsa and escape its responsibility towards Al-Quds, in addition to undermining the efforts of the Arab group.
The Algerian ambassador, Nazir Al-Arbaoui, confirmed during the deliberations of the Arab group, that the situation in Palestine, especially in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, does no longer tolerate courtesies and formalities from the Al-Quds Committee headed by Morocco.
He mentioned that the Al-Quds Committee, which was established under the supervision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, has only met twice during the past twenty years, the last of which was in 2014, stressing the need to invite the Al-Quds Committee to meet as soon as possible to assume its responsibility in defending Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
During these deliberations, and after consulting with the Omani delegation, the current chairman of the Arab group, and the representative of Palestine, at the request of the group, and after agreeing to add a paragraph from the Egyptian delegation, an amended version of the project was agreed upon and presented in its final form.
However, the Moroccan delegation, in a show-off attempt aimed at ignoring the real scene witnessed by Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem, and by escaping its responsibility towards the city of Jerusalem, undermined the draft statement and criticized the Algerian delegation’s proposal.
This Moroccan maneuver raised a question about the intention of this country, and about this surprising behavior by a country that chairs the Al-Quds Committee, which is expected to defend the just Palestinian cause and Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and not the contrary, as it is weird to invite the Al-Quds Committee to meet in defense of Al-Aqsa, Al-Quds and Palestine and make a show, unless there is a premeditated intention aimed at undermining and preventing the issuance of a statement condemning the practices and violations of the Zionist entity in Al-Aqsa, Al-Quds and in Palestine as a whole.
