Arkab invites Czech companies to invest in Algeria

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, called today, Sunday, on Czech companies to invest in the mining sector in Algeria and to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian companies, according to a ministry statement.

The statement indicated that Arkab received a delegation from the Czech Republic, which is on a working visit to Algeria, led by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Algeria, Lanka Pocorna.

This meeting, which was attended by officials from the Ministry and the Director General of the Algerian Mining Group (Manal), in addition to the heads of the companies affiliated with the group and representatives of the National Agency for Mining Activities and the Geological Agency, centered on examining the opportunities and possibilities of investment and partnership in the field of mines in Algeria, according to the ministry.

On the occasion, Arkab presented a plan to develop the mining sector in Algeria, expressing “Algeria’s desire to develop structural projects as part of the implementation of major mining projects, which constitute a national interest and a strategic choice, given the natural wealth and important mineral resources that exist in our country.”

The minister also called on “Czech companies to invest in the mining sector in Algeria and establish mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian companies with the transfer of knowledge and training, especially since the amendments made to the new draft law on mines will stimulate investment and facilitate procedures.”

For her part, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Algeria, Lanka Pocorna, expressed her “great satisfaction” with the quality of relations between Algeria and her country, expressing “the Czech companies’ interest in exploiting all business and investment opportunities with Algerian companies in the mining sector in Algeria, especially in major mining projects, exploration and exploitation of precious and rare minerals, mapping and nonferrous minerals and mining.”.
