Army General Chanegriha receives Chief of General Staff of Libyan National Unity Government

Army General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army received, Thursday at the headquarters of the Army, Army General Mohamed Ali El-Hadad, Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Government of National Unity, said the Ministry of National Defense in a statement.

The welcoming ceremony began with the salute of the national flag, followed by the military salute presented to the host by a military formation representing the different Forces of the ANP.

The Secretary General of the MND, the Force Commanders, the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, the Heads of Departments and Central Directors of the Staff of the ANP and the Ministry, as well as the members of the Libyan delegation, took part in this meeting, the same source said.

On this occasion, General Said Chanegriha delivered a speech welcoming the host delegation before stressing the “importance of this meeting which is an opportunity to exchange views on the development of the situation in the region and the bilateral cooperation”.

“The mutual exchange of visits between the two countries’ officials has always been an opportunity to exchange views, inquire about the state of cooperation between the two countries and examine the ways of its development and consolidation,” said the General.

In this regard, he stressed “the efforts made by both parties to maintain the historical and bilateral relations that unite our two countries, particularly in the light of the current sensitive situation in our region.

He also noted that ” the depth of the fraternal ties between the two countries requires the leaders of both countries to work together to resolve the crises that undermine the security of the region and its stability”.

“Our common history and the Libyan people’s support for the Algerian Liberation Revolution oblige us, as leaders in both countries, to work together for the resolution of crises that undermine the security and stability of the region, especially when it comes to contributing to the implementation of political, diplomatic and security mechanisms, with a view to adhering to peaceful approaches that are in the interest of the peoples of the region, paving the way for their development and prosperity,” he stressed.

“A vision that is in line with the principles of Algeria’s foreign policy, in accordance with the international charters of the United Nations, the African Union and the Arab League, based mainly on the policy of good neighbourhood and focused on multidimensional cooperation in favour of the development of peoples, support for their right to self-determination, non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and the peaceful resolution of conflicts,” added the Chief of Staff of the ANP.

For his part, the Chief of General Staff of the Libyan Army expressed his satisfaction to visit Algeria and highlighted “the depth of the ties of brotherhood that bind the two countries, which is reflected on the level of military cooperation between the armies of the two countries in more than one respect.

At the end, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts before Army General Mohamed Ali El-Haddad signed the guestbook of the ANP General Staff, the statement concluded.
