Arrest of 8 elements who support terrorist groups and seizure of approximately 13 quintals of processed hashish within a week

Units and detachments of People’s National Army, have carried out, during the period from 16 to 22 June, several operations within the framework of combating terrorism, organized crime, and illegal immigration, confirming the armed forces’ commitment to maintaining security and serenity in the country.

The weekly operational outcome of the National People’s Army, on Wednesday, stated, “As part of its noble tasks in defending and securing the national territory against various threats, units and detachments of the National People’s Army, during the period from 16 to 22 June 2021, carried out several operations that confirm the commitment of our armed forces with the duty to maintain security and serenity in our country.”

As part of the fight against terrorism, joint detachments of the People’s National Army arrested (08) elements supporting terrorist groups in separate operations across the national territory, while (04) terrorist hideouts were discovered and destroyed in Skikda.

In the context of “fighting organized crime and continuing the relentless efforts aimed at eliminating the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, joint detachments of the National People’s Army, in coordination with various security services, arrested (30) drug dealers and seized, during separate operations across various military regions, (12) quintals.” And (91) kilograms of processed hashish that criminal groups tried to bring across the border with Morocco.”

In this regard, “Detachments of the National People’s Army, the services of the National Gendarmerie and the border guards in the regions of the second and third military regions arrested (17) drug dealers and seized (11) quintals and (89) kilograms ofprocessed hashish, while (13) drug dealers were arrested and detained (102) kilograms of the same substance and (156308) hallucinogenic tablets during various operations through other military regions.”

In another context, “ANP detachments arrested in Tamanrasset, Ain Gezam, Bordj Badji Mokhtar and Djanet, (151) people, and (64) vehicles, (85) generators, (28) pressure hammers, (18) metal detectors, and (236) bags of a mixture of gold ore and stones, explosives, detonation equipment and other equipment used in illegal gold mining operations, in addition to (102) tons of food destined for smuggling, while (20) people were arrested and (11) hunting rifles and (18) quintals of tobacco, (52) quintals of copper waste, (3265) units of various drinks and (18) antiquities, during separate operations carried out in Biskra, Tindouf, Ghardaia, Chlef, Batna, Oum El Bouaghi, Ain Temouchent, Tiaret and Boumerdes.”

Meanwhile, attempts to smuggle large quantities of fuel, estimated at 36,274 liters, were thwarted in Tamanrasset, Tebessa, El Tarf and Souk Ahras, while 45 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested in Tlemcen, Adrar and Bachar.
