Belhimer extends his condolences to the family of journalist Abdelhakim Meziani

The Minister of Communication, Ammar Belhimer extended a message of condolences to the press community and to the family of journalist and producer Abdelhakim Meziani, who died on Thursday at the age of 72.

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of journalist and producer Abdelhakim Meziani who died on Thursday,” wrote the Minister of Communication in his message of condolence.

The late, who had a long career in the field of culture and information, was a producer of several cultural and historical television programs. He progressed from the position of journalist to editor in chief, columnist before becoming an editorialist for several publications in the print and electronic media, the Minister added.

Abdelhakim Meziani held “the position of Central Director of Algérie Télécom from 2006 to 2014 and that of advisor responsible for communication and national and international press relations for various institutions and organizations.

The first founder of the Algerian Union of Film Clubs in Algeria from 1972-1984, Abdelhakim Meziani organised national, regional and Maghrebian conferences for the training of film club leaders, which led to the launch of more than 600 film clubs across the country, according to the same source.

He has taken part in various national and international congresses and festivals and has won several awards, such as the First Prize of the French Union of Film Critics and the First Prize of the Italian Film Critics.

In this sad occasion, the Minister of Communication offers “his sincere condolences and expresses his deepest sympathy to the family of the deceased and to the press community, praying to Allah the Almighty to grant him His holy mercy and to give his relatives patience.
