BENABDERRAHMANE and Chinese ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation

Finance Minister, Ayman BENABDERRAHMANE, received today, Sunday, in Algiers, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algiers, Li LIANHE, with whom he discussed bilateral cooperation as well as ways to enhance it, according to a statement by the ministry.

On the occasion of this meeting that took place at the Ministry’s headquarters, the two sides discussed the status of bilateral cooperation as well as ways and means to enhance it, the statement adds.

Mr. LINAHE expressed his happiness at the development of the multi-facetted relations that have linked the two countries in recent years, stressing that “the Chinese side considers Algeria a strategic partner and is working to intensify and expand bilateral relations to various fields of endeavor.”

Evoking the historical relations that link the two countries, Mr. BENABDERRAHMANE stressed the strategic nature of these relations, marked by the conclusion of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed by the two parties in February 2014 and Algeria’s accession to the Chinese President’s initiative bearing the name “Belt and Road”.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation and partnership opportunities with Chinese companies in the field of developing large scale projects.

Referring to the “important” support provided by Chinese companies in this regard, the Minister of Finance explained to the Chinese ambassador the Algerian approach that encourages partnership in the field of implementing and supporting the aforementioned projects.

Meanwhile, Mr. BENABDERRAHMANE called for a “greater contribution” of Chinese companies in the efforts aimed at diversifying the Algerian economy and working together with their Algerian counterparts to position themselves in the regional markets, especially those included in the Free trade agreements, to which Algeria is a party.
