Boughali receives Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation

The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, Brahim Boughali, received today, Tuesday, the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Viktor Bondarev, according to a statement of the lower house of parliament.

During the meeting, Boughali praised the Algerian-Russian relations, recalling that Russia “was one of the first countries to recognize Algeria’s independence.”

He referred, in this context, to “the distinguished diplomatic relations that the two countries aspire to deepen, as expressed by the Russian Foreign Minister during his recent visit to Algeria on May 9-10,” according to the same source.

The Speaker of the National People’s Assembly also expressed his “desire to deepen parliamentary diplomatic relations, evidenced by the recent inauguration of the Parliamentary Friendship Group.”

In the economic field, Boughali hailed “the level of trade exchange between Algeria and Russia and seized the opportunity to express his hope that Russian investors would enter the world of investment, especially in the agricultural and tourism sector, as well as nuclear energy for peaceful and scientific purposes.”

As part of the “rapprochement” that characterizes the international relations that unite the two countries, Boughali recorded “mutual satisfaction” with the level of these relations, calling on the international community to “necessarily apply international laws and avoid double standards,” recalling what “the oppressed peoples suffer as a result of the occupation, especially the Palestinian and Sahrawi peoples.” .

For his part, Bondarev praised the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, for the “warm welcome,” and thanked Algeria for its “steadfast positions on international issues.”

Regarding bilateral relations between Algeria and Russia, the head of the Defense and Security Committee stressed that his country is “faithful to its partners”, and remains “ready for any assistance,” the same source added.
