Merad conveys greetings of President Tebboune to Civil protection teams sent to Turkey, Syria

The Minister of the Interior, Local Administration and National Planning, Brahim Merad, said Wednesday the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, praised the efforts of the Civil protection teams sent to Turkey and Syria, and who “have brought honour to the national flag in fulfilling their humanitarian mission” following the violent earthquake that hit the two countries.

Welcoming the members of the team of Civil Protection back from Turkey, at the Air Force Base of Boufarik (Blida), Mr. Merad made a point of conveying to them “the congratulations of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Prime Minister, Mr. Aïmene Benabderrahmane, and the government’s members, for the great work done by each member of the team, thus honoring the national emblem in the fulfillment of their humanitarian mission through their participation in rescue operations in Turkey and Syria, after the violent earthquake that hit both countries.

“You were among the first to arrive in Turkey and you met the challenge of saving as many lives as possible and your honorable results are recognized by all today. You have also shown great professionalism,” the minister said.

The units of civil protection, all ranks, have overcome many difficulties on the ground, “honoring the national emblem and demonstrating the capabilities of Algeria in terms of rapid and organized response in emergency situations,” added Merad.

The two teams of Civil Protection sent to Syria and Turkey “deserve all our praise and encouragement as the results of their operations and rescues are beyond measure,” said the minister.

The Civil Protection rescue and recovery team dispatched to Turkey rescued 13 people and removed 96 dead bodies from under the rubble.

Algeria, upon the order of the President of the Republic, has dispatched to Turkey a group of 89 members ranked internationally in the field of intervention and management of major risks, divided into brigades, including the search and rescue brigade, the dog squad and a specialized medical team.
