Minister of Transport: It is necessary to review some texts that hinder investment in transport and logistics sector

The Minister of Transport, Issa Bakay, stressed the need to review some legal and regulatory texts that pose obstacles to investors in the field of transport in all its forms, sea, air and land as well as logistical services, pointing to the importance of exploiting the capabilities that Algeria enjoys to make it more competitive at the level of local and international markets, according to a statement by the Ministry.

The ministry indicated in a post on its official “Facebook” page that Transport Minister Issa Bakay chaired, yesterday evening, a working session that brought his together with the Federation of operators active in the transport and logistics sector.

During this meeting, members of the federation gave a presentation on the various administrative and legal procedures that hinder the activity and investment in the field of transport in all its forms, sea, air and land as well as logistic services, and proposed a number of measures to reorganize them to make them more efficient, according to the same source.

In this context, and in implementation of the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at simplifying administrative procedures and measures in various economic activities, the minister stressed “the need to review some legal and regulatory texts that pose obstacles to investors, and reconsider them by simplifying them and making them more flexible, while going towards modernizing mechanisms, and developing the capabilities of the human element.”

Bakay also emphasized “Algeria’s potentials from a strategic location and enormous natural resources, which must be optimally exploited to make them more competitive at the level of local and international markets.”
