The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received today, Tuesday, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin.
A communiqué of the Ministry of Energy and Mines stated that, during the meeting, “the two sides discussed the Algerian-American bilateral relations in the field of energy and mines, which are described as historic and excellent, and the prospects for strengthening them. The two sides also reiterated the desire to intensify cooperation by studying all available opportunities in the fields of oil, gas, electricity and mining.
In this regard, “the Minister of Energy and Mines stressed the importance of cooperation and strategic partnership that links Algerian and American companies present in Algeria in the field of energy. He also presented the investment and partnership opportunities provided by the sector, especially in the field of hydrocarbon exploration, development and exploitation, hoping to see the participation of American companies in the upcoming calls for tenders that the sector will launch soon and to benefit from the advantages offered by the new hydrocarbons law.
The two parties also referred, according to the same statement, “to the great cooperation possibilities and investment opportunities that exist in the field of new and renewable energies (hydrogen) as well as in the national seawater desalination program in the short and medium term, hoping for the participation of American companies in this program.”
Accordingly, the minister insisted “on Algeria’s will to work more to develop its resources better to explore and exploit its rich mining heritage. On this occasion, he called on American companies to invest in the mining sector in Algeria and to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian companies with the transfer of knowledge and training.
For her part, the ambassador expressed her “satisfaction with the quality of relations between the two countries, the interest shown by American companies, and the confidence that characterizes the relations between the companies of the two countries thanks to balanced and solid partnerships.”
