The National Gendarmerie Command organized, on Wednesday at the National Army Club in Beni Messous (Algiers), the first national forum on “the multiple forms of economic and financial crime and ways to confront it”, in order to find out the reality of this type of crime from different angles and to identify ways to combat it, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense.
The same source explained that this forum, which was inaugurated by the Brigadier General, Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of National Defense and representatives of public bodies and institutions, in addition to professors and experts in the field, is of “extreme importance, given that economic and financial crime, especially cross-border and new ones, is one of the biggest challenges faced by society and the state, and its repercussions extend to various aspects and sectors.”
The two-day forum also aims to “understand the reality of economic crime in our country from different angles and identify ways and methods of combating and addressing this crime, highlighting the efforts of the actors in this field and finding effective mechanisms to reduce the repercussions of economic and financial crime.”
The statement added that “the effective response to this criminal pattern begins with studying it from different angles and unifying the efforts of the actors in this field, which is what the National Gendarmerie leadership sought to achieve by organizing this forum that brings together academics and professionals, in order to achieve integration in the performance of tasks according to the competence of each body and institution, as well as seeking to lay solid foundations for a comprehensive national vision that takes into account the priority of social and economic security for Algeria.”
