National People’s Assembly: Approval of amended text of the Law on Prevention and Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing

Parliaments Members of the National People’s Assembly (APN), adopted today, Tuesday in Algiers, the adoption of the text amending and supplementing the law on the prevention and fight against money laundering and terrorism financing, during a plenary session chaired by Speaker of the Assembly Brahim Boughali, in the presence of Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Abderrachid Tabi, and Minister of Relations with Parliament, Basma Azouar.

This project aims to keep pace with the national legislation to international developments and to adapt the legal system in line with the treaties and agreements to which Algeria has acceded, in addition to being a new tool to protect the national economy.

The contents of this project are divided into (5) main axes, some of which are related to reviewing a number of terms to be more precise, defining the duties of those involved in the process of preventing and combating money laundering and financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The same text also specified the administrative penalties imposed on financial institutions and non-financial institutions and professions such as lawyers, notaries, auctioneers, managers or assistants in case they breached the duties imposed on them, and obligated them to inform the specialized authority of every suspicious transaction.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs calls for performing rain prayers next Friday

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments called, in a statement today, Tuesday, for the prayer for rain next Friday, starting at nine in the morning.

“Following the drought that has affected most parts of the country, and in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Wakfs calls on all citizens to take part in Salat Al-istisqa which will be performed on Friday 06 jumada ath-thania 1444, corresponding to December 30, 2022, from 09:00 a.m. “, reads the press release.

The ministry urged citizens to “repent to the Almighty, keep ties of kinship intact, intensify good deeds, and give alms to the poor and needy, in the hope that God, Almighty gratifies us with His blessings”.
