President Erdogan: “we highly consider Algeria’s role in North Africa and the Sahel”

Turkey highly considers the role played by Algeria in North Africa and the Sahel region, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday in Ankara.

During a press conference hosted jointly with the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Turkish President said: “we highly consider the role that Algeria plays in North Africa and the Sahel”.

“As countries that play an important role in ensuring security and peace in the African continent, we are determined to strengthen our cooperation in military industries as well,” he added.

The Turkish President also indicated that the talks with President Tebboune focused on joint action to be taken at the international level on several issues, including the Libyan and Palestinian issues.

In this regard, he mentioned the possibility of developing diplomatic cooperation through foreign ministers under the supervision of the presidents of the two countries, continuing the meetings of the Joint Cooperation Council.

Highlighting Turkey’s interest in economic development, peace and political stability in Africa, President Erdogan congratulated Somalia for the success of the presidential elections.

Algeria and Turkey signed, on Monday in Ankara, several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields, within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Turkey , at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
