President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday made a proposal, in Rome, to set up a submarine cable between Algeria and Italy, to supply Italy and a part of Europe with electric power.
“We have made a proposal to set up a submarine cable between Algeria and Italy, through which we will be able to supply Italy and part of Europe with electricity,” President Tebboune said at a joint press conference with his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella, at the end of bilateral talks held at the Presidential Palace.
Regarding renewable energy, the Head of State announced the launch by the two countries of the production of solar panels in the wilaya of Sidi Bel-Abbes and other products by two Algerian and Italian companies.
The President of the Republic, who arrived in Rome on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to Italy, at the invitation of his Italian counterpart, had a one-on-one meeting with President Mattarella in the Italian capital today (Thursday). The talks were then extended to delegations from both countries.
