President of the Republic: Algeria will seek to put the Palestinian cause at the top of the priorities of the upcoming Arab summit

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed today, Monday, that Algeria is seeking to put the Palestinian cause at the top of the priorities of the Arab Summit, scheduled to be held next March, stressing that Algeria will remain faithful to its unwavering principles and advocate for the support of the oppressed.

In his speech, during a joint press conference with the President of the State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, who is on a state visit to Algeria, the President of the Republic said: “We have decided, as we prepare to host the upcoming Arab Summit, to strive to put the Palestinian cause at the top of the priorities of this important event, which we hope will comprehensive and inclusive, and constitute a new start for joint Arab action.”

President Tebboune added, “In the face of the unprecedented stalemate in the peace process in the Middle East and in light of the criminal policies of the occupier, which aim to change the geographical and demographic character and impose a fait-accompli, we believe that it is necessary to strengthen joint Arab action on our central and primary cause and to unify positions to support the Palestinian people and their valiant resistance.”.

The President of the Republic assured the Palestinian president that “Algeria will remain faithful to its basic principles, which plead for upholding the right and supporting the oppressed, no matter how long it takes and whatever the price.”

Regarding the relations between Algeria and Palestine, the Head of State affirmed that they are “too big to be described because of the ideal and common values ​​they reflect in terms of struggle, sacrifice and liberation, and for the bonds of interdependence and solidarity  between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples in every circumstance and through all times.”

The President of the Republic pointed out that the visit of the Palestinian President to his second country, Algeria, “comes as we celebrate the thirty-third (33) anniversary of the declaration , on the land of Algeria, of the establishment of the Palestinian state on November 15, 1988,” adding that “this is the historical milestone that paved the way for the recognition of the Palestinian state by the majority of countries across the world, on the basis of the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital”.

President Tebboune concluded his speech by emphasizing that “in loyalty to Algeria’s glorious revolutionary history and the firm commitment of the entire Algerian people to support the just Palestinian cause in all circumstances, and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Arab League, the Algerian state decided to grant a financial contribution amountingto one hundred (100) million dollars for my brother, His Excellency President Abou Mazen, the President of the State of Palestine and the President of the Palestine Liberation Organization.”.
