President of the Republic: Appearance of Sahrawi President before Spanish justice shows that Sahrawi Republic is a republic of law

President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed, today, Wednesday, that the appearance of Sahrawi President, Mr. Brahim Ghali, before Spanish justice, “showed that the Sahrawi Arab Republic is a republic of law and never departs from the law,” reiterating, on this occasion, Algeria’s support for the Saharawi cause.

During a visit, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, Major-General Saïd Chanegriha, to check on the health of the Sahrawi President, who is at the Central Hospital of the army, “Mohamed Seghir Nekkache” in Aïn al-Naâdja for treatment, President Tebboune addressed Mr. Ghali by saying: You appeared before the Spanish justice and gave an image (to the world) that the Sahrawi Arab Republic is a republic of law and never goes out of the law.”

The President of the Republic added that “appearing before the justice and respecting it is an attribute of fighters and revolutionaries, and this is the opposite of what is being said,” pointing out that “Sahrawis are demanding the world to apply the justice and they cannot abandon it.”

President Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s supportive stance for the Saharawi cause, stressing that with regard to just causes in the world, “Algeria has never been late” in supporting them, “since the first day after independence.”

On the same occasion, the President of the Republic thanked the Spanish authorities for the efforts they deployed, for receiving the Sahrawi President on their territory and for providing treatment, which Mr. Tebboune said was “difficult.”

At the end of the visit of reassurance, President Tebboune, alongside Major-General Chanegriha, expressed to Mr. Brahim Ghali, their wishes for his quick recovery.

For his part, Sahrawi President expressed his gratitude to President Tebboune, stressing that he is in “the best conditions in Algeria, psychologically, morally and physically” and that his health condition is “continuously improving”.

Regarding his appearance before the Spanish justice, Mr. Ghali said: “We are fighters from any location, from any place and in any circumstances, and justice is one of the pillars of our struggle,” stressing that Algeria “will remain proud forever.”
