President of the Republic chairs a meeting of Supreme Security Council

President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, today, Wednesday, a periodic meeting of the Supreme Security Council, devoted to studying the general security situation and the health situation in the country and preparing for the upcoming local benefits, in addition to social entry, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.

The source explained that after listening to the interventions of the members of the Council, the President valued people’s solidarity donation to confront the Covid-19 pandemic, calling on citizens to be more vigilant and not to be complacent in respecting preventive measures in front of ‘Delta’ mutator, given the speed of its spread.

In this context, the President of the Republic gave the following instructions, which are “accelerating the procedures to continue acquiring new oxygen concentrators, from which 3,000 units arrive today to the homeland, with the receipt of a similar batch at the end of the week, and the establishment of oxygen production stations inside hospitals to meet the self-demand for this vital substance as soon as possible, along with the continuation of the vaccination process and giving priority to the most affected provinces, especially with Algeria receiving five million doses this week.”

Regarding the security situation, the President of the Republic praised “the stability and improvement of the situation in the country in the face of all continuous attempts to target the unity of the country, by exploiting social conditions such as unemployment in some southern parts of the territory.”

In this context, it was decided “to address the problem of employment in the south and to follow up on those involved in spreading false news through social media platforms for the purpose of intimidation, while assigning members of the Supreme Security Council to create a new penal pole charged with following up and combating cyber crimes in addition to criminalizing those responsible for forest fires, toughening penalties against them, and improving the public service for water supply, with the imminent entry into use of new seawater desalination plants.

Regarding the upcoming social entry, the President of the Republic ordered “inspection of educational facilities for the three educational levels (school, university and vocational training), and intensifying coordination with health teams to develop a health protocol for combating Covid-19,” in addition to “adopting dialogue with the social partner in order to finding solutions to the problems and concerns of workers in sectors of education, vocational training, higher education and health.
