President Tebboune: the bill on economic land must be based on citizens’ freedom to invest

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered during the meeting of the Council of Ministers he chaired on Tuesday, the revision and enrichment of the draft law setting the conditions and modalities of granting economic land under the private domain of the State, emphasizing the need for a law based on the freedom for the citizen to invest in his field of activity, says a statement of the Council of Ministers.

“Concerning the draft bill fixing the conditions and modalities of granting economic land belonging to the private domain of the State and intended for the implementation of investment projects, the President ordered the revision and enrichment of the draft bill,” the statement said.

The President of the Republic has given instructions that “the spirit of the law is based on the freedom of the citizen to invest in his field of activity, avoiding the severe abuses that the country has experienced in the field of industrial land,” the same source adds.

“The vision of Algeria, through this law, is to encourage investment in an integrated perspective for a take-off in terms of development guaranteeing a stronger economic dynamic,” stressed the President of the Republic.

He added that “the granting of land for economic purposes must be accompanied by real legal flexibility to encourage and attract investment, while ensuring the interests of the State”, according to the communiqué.

President Tebboune also ordered that “these operations should be based entirely on the digital system in order to avoid bureaucracy, with the one-stop shop system aiming to implement projects more quickly and efficiently”.

“The draft bill must take into consideration, in addition to the equitable distribution of investment projects throughout the national territory, the nature and objectives of the projects according to the characteristics of each region and its efficiency,” the President of the Republic insisted.
