Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, chaired today, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, a cabinet meeting held at the government palace.

In the field of transportation:

The government examined a draft executive decree that determines the modalities for teaching traffic rules, prevention and security on the roads in schools, submitted by the Minister of Transport.

This draft decree aims to generalize education and the culture of roads among children through the inclusion of an educational material dedicated to road safety at the level of all educational phases.

It should be noted that s part of combating insecurity on the roads, the government, places traffic education as one of the main axes in the context of actions aimed at reducing traffic accident victims, especially among children.

In the field of higher education and scientific research:

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research gave a presentation on training and scientific research in the field of seawater desalination.

It should be recalled that the matter is related to the creation of a new academic specialization that falls within the framework of implementing the instructions of the President of the Republic given during the Cabinet meeting held on November 14, 2022, in view of the progress made in this vital sector.

In this regard, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research proposed, to include new training curriculum at universities, as from the next academic year, with the aim of controlling the technological processes for seawater desalination and having a qualified human resource in this specialization.

The envisaged goal is to train graduates (engineering, bachelor’s and master’s degrees) who can take care of the daily problems of running seawater desalination plants and respond to the needs of the drinking water production sector, especially through the desalination of seawater and brackish water. A pole of excellence will be established for this training, consisting of four universities: Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology in Algiers, the Higher National School of Irrigation in Blida, the National Polytechnic School in Oran, and the University of Ouargla.

In the field of vocational training:

The Minister of Vocational Training and Education presented a proposal that includes the creation of a “sea water desalination” branch within the list of training offers.

As this training also falls within the framework of implementing the directives of the President of the Republic, it aims to provide operators of seawater desalination plants in charge of operating these structures, as well as maintaining and cleaning the filters of seawater desalination plants and brackish water.

This short-term training (6 months) will be provided at vocational training centers, and will be directed to students at the second year of the secondary phase.

Finally, in the field of youth and sports:

The government listened to a presentation by the Minister of Youth and Sports, related to the status of professionalism in the field of football, and the prospects for reforms that will be initiated within the mechanism aimed at raising it to the level of standards and conditions required under the new regulatory framework for the professional club license granting system, which was approved by the Confederation of African Football. .
