Prime Minister highlights the need to benefit from revenues of cultural economy

Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad inaugurated, today, Saturday at Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (Algiers), a three-day forum on Cultural Economy.

During his opening speech, Djerad stressed that the deep reforms undertaken by the country require investment in all sectors likely to generate wealth and increase jobs, including the sector of culture, which has a huge potential.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to benefit from the revenues of the cultural economy, which generate huge amounts of money and create millions of jobs in the world.

He recalled that the government has endeavored to stimulate film and cultural industry, encourage national expertise in this field, and establish the basic structures for cinema and theater including auditoriums, among others.

He also recalled the urgent measures taken to protect cultural property, and to start the economic exploitation of archaeological sites such as the Citadel of Algiers.

Mr. Djerad evoked the importance of moving towards establishing film production cities, highlighting the close link between the sectors of culture and tourism.

Several ministers, advisors to the President of the Republic, representatives of state bodies and institutions, in addition to experts and actors in the fields of culture and economy are attending the forum.
