Prime Minister presents tomorrow government’s work plan to members of Council of the Nation

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane will present tomorrow, Tuesday, the government’s plan of action to implement the President’s program to members of the Council of the Nation for study and discussion.

The presentation will be followed directly, throughout the day, by the interventions of the members of the Council of the Nation on the content of the plan to continue during the morning session of the next day, followed by the interventions of the heads of the parliamentary groups represented in the Council.

The works are scheduled to conclude on Wednesday evening, with the Prime Minister’s response to the parliament’s interventions, followed by the National Council’s issuance of a regulation on the scheme, in accordance with the provisions of Article 106 of the Constitution and pursuant to Organic Law No. 12-16 and the parliament’s bylaws.

The government’s action plan, which was approved by People’s National Assembly’s deputies by a majority last Thursday, includes five main axes aimed at introducing important structural reforms at the institutional and socio-economic levels: “Strengthening the rule of law and renewing governance, economic recovery and renewal, achieving human development and social policy, achieve an active and proactive foreign policy, and strengthen national security and defense.”

On September 16, deputies of People’s National Assembly approved by a majority the government’s action plan in a public session chaired by the Speaker of the Assembly, Brahim Boughali, in the presence of Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane and members of the government, 318 deputies voted “yes” and 65 voted “No”, out of 380 deputies who attended the session.
