Process of clearing and cleaning forest areas affected by fires began

The process of clearing and cleaning the forest areas affected by the recent fires in several provinces of the country began, this Saturday morning, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The institutions of Rural Engineering Complex, in coordination with the governorates of forestry, are overseeing the completion of this important operation, across five provinces, namely Khenchela, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Tebessa and Souk Ahras, where they have mobilized “all necessary means to complete the works as soon as possible.”

The same source indicated that this process will be followed by other operations that will concern all affected provinces.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, during the coordination meeting he chaired last Tuesday, instructed forestry governors and the Rural Engineering Complex to begin clearing and rehabilitating the areas affected by the fires before the rains.

It was also revealed on the same day that forest fires that affected 35 provinces across the country had destroyed more than 89,000 hectares across 1,186 fire spots, according to the tally recorded on August 21.
