The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, extended his warmest congratulations to Professor Belhaj Rachid, on his well-deserved election, today, Friday, for a new term as a member of the International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Committee.
Mr. Lamamra wrote today, Wednesday, in a tweet on his Twitter account: “My warmest congratulations to Professor Belhaj Rachid for his well-deserved election today for a new term as a member of the International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Committee. I wish him success in carrying out his duties and embodying the mandate of this important mechanism that was established to investigate possible violations of international humanitarian law.”
The commission was officially established in 1991, and it is a permanent body whose official objective is to investigate allegations of grave violations or other serious violations against the provisions of international humanitarian law, and the commission is an important mechanism to ensure the application of international humanitarian law and adherence to its provisions in times of armed conflict.
