The representative of the Polisario Front in Spain, Abdullah Arabi, said, today, Sunday, that “the aggressiveness by which Morocco dealt with Spain showed the extent of its tension and the failure of all its diplomatic attempts to lure Madrid to follow in the footsteps of former US President Donald Trump” regarding the kingdom’s alleged sovereignty over Western Sahara.
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper, Abdullah Arabi explained that “Morocco is used to imposing its flaws and illogical choices through blackmail and manipulation,” referring to the method it used in Spanish Ceuta by resorting to “a shameful and immoral method through the use of human lives for the purpose of pressure to achieve political goals.”
The representative of the Polisario Front in Spain denounced the Makhzen’s exploitation of thousands of Moroccans and pushed them to migrate to Spanish Ceuta, stressing that its main goal was “to force the government of Pedro Sanchez to follow in the footsteps of Donald Trump and recognize his alleged sovereignty over Western Sahara.”
The spokesman highlighted that the failure of the Moroccan regime to achieve its goals led it to “adopt another escalatory approach, through a massive media campaign, as a spark for its diplomatic crisis with Europe, which it started against Berlin.”
In this context, Arabi stopped at Morocco’s exploitation of the presence of the Sahrawi President and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, in Spain, to receive treatment from the Coronavirus, “as an excuse to blackmail Spain and Europe,” noting that the purpose of what he did was to “support his expansion plan at the expense of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination and the rule of international law.”
“What happened proved once again that the Kingdom of Morocco does not deserve to enjoy privileges from the European Union and Spain, or even as a partner in ensuring security and good neighborliness.”
The Sahrawi diplomat stressed that “President Ghali was never an exception to the smear campaigns led by the Moroccan occupation, to undermine the struggle of the Sahrawi people, using an illogical and irrational method.”
He added that the Makhzen is fabricating accusations against the Sahrawis, at a time when “it has been proven that this expansionist regime was involved in crimes against the Sahrawi people during its invasion of Western Sahara,” the spokesman added.
The representative of the Polisario Front in Spain concluded, saying that the Sahrawi cause is just from the point of view of international law, stressing that the Sahrawi people will continue to bet on justice and international legitimacy to achieve their goal of independence and freedom, “despite all the illegal methods pursued by the occupying power – the Kingdom of Moroccan”.
