Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum participated today, Thursday, in a meeting that included the ministers participating in the emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, in the presence of its President, Volkan Bozkir, in order to talk about the escalation of the aggression in the occupied Palestinian territories, according to a press release issued by the ministry.

During this meeting, “the Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated Algeria’s condemnation of the policy of the occupying power and the silence of the international community, which was indifferent to the oppression faced by the Palestinians, especially in El Quds, during the holy month of Ramadan.”

Sabri Boukadoum expressed his thanks to the President of the General Assembly for his prompt response to the request made by Algeria on behalf of the Arab Group and Niger on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to hold an emergency session of the UN General Assembly to discuss the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the important role this body plays in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

The head of the Algerian diplomacy pointed out that “this meeting does not aim at all to exempt the Security Council from its legal, moral and historical responsibilities regarding the Palestinian issue, calling on this body to separate without any delay in the escalation of the aggression and contribute to putting an end to it.”

Sabri Boukadoum also mentioned Algeria’s keenness to reach a permanent and just solution to the Palestinian issue that responds to the international legitimacy that enables the Palestinians to establish their sovereign state according to the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The ministers participating in this meeting published a joint press release in which they called for an immediate end to the attacks and the launch of a political process that would allow reaching a final solution to the Palestinian issue.
