Speaker Council of the Nation: We are determined to build a true democracy because it is immune to foreign interference

Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House), Salah Goudjil, affirmed today, Monday, that Algeria is determined to build a “true and ideal democracy”, because it constitutes “immunity against foreign interference.”

In his intervention on the occasion of the commemoration of the 39th anniversary of the martyrdom of the former Foreign Minister, Mohamed Seddik Benyahia, Goudjil expressed his hope that “Algeria will overcome its difficulties,” adding, “We are determined to overcome all this and build a true and ideal democracy and a state that accommodates everyone, for this constitutes Algeria’s immunity against all foreign interference. ”

He went on to say, “In addition to the immunity of the People’s National Army, a descendant of the National Liberation Army, which effectively and deservedly preserves the sovereignty and unity of the country so that the Algerian flag remains always high”.

Goudjil seized the occasion to emphasize that “everything will change in Algeria through the consolidation of democracy and the organization of elections in order to build the state of everyone,” with the exception of “Algeria’s position in foreign policy and its stance in support of all just causes in the world” which remain constant, he adds.

The Speaker of the Council of the Nation affirmed that Algeria has always been in the forefront, and that the strength of its diplomacy lies in the independence of the political decision, adding, “No one influences Algeria’s decisions.”

He pointed out, in the same respect, that Algeria preserved the independence of its political decisions even during the liberation war.

On the eve of the celebration of May 8, 1945, which was declared by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as a national day of memory, Salah Goudjil urged for the need to pay attention to history, especially for the youth, so that they know the history of those who liberated and built this country, stressing that it was not easy and without those sacrifices, determination and will, Algeria would not have been what it is today.
