The Minister of ReligiousAaffairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, received the rector of the Great Mosque of Paris, Chemseddine Hafiz, and the General Caliph of the Tijaniyya Order, Sheikh Ali Belarabi, in order to discuss what can be offered to the Algerian community in France and Europe.
Belmehdi said during the meeting, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters, that the meeting with the rector of the Mosqueof Paris, which comes after his recent meetingwith the President of the Republic, Mr. AbdelmadjidTebboune, “aims to discuss what can be offered to the Algerian community in France and Europe, and to study the various problems that this spiritual institution is confronted with.
With regard to the meeting with the General Leader of the Tijaniyya Order, Sheikh Ali Belarabi, the Minister said that “Algeria has always been the home of the African brothers who have a deep connection with it, as revolutionaries as was the case of late President Nelson Mandela, or in terms of training in the religious field which represents todaythe spiritual extension of the Tijaniyya order in Africa and the world.”
For his part, the rector of the Mosque of Parisreferred to his recent meeting with the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, stressing that it was “important”, considering that it came after two years of interruption due to the circumstances imposed by the Corona pandemic.
Hafiz focused in his speech on “the extent of the importance of Algeria’s contribution represented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments in the training of imams assigned to France, which has continued since 1981 to send imams to support the Algerian community.”
Regarding his meeting with Sheikh Ali Belarabi, the rector of the Mosqueof Paris said, “The opportunity was ripe to discuss ways to strengthen the relationship between the two parties, especially with regard to the issue of training imams while addressing joint cooperation opportunities.”
In the same regard, the General Leader of the Tijaniyyah Order said, that everything that serves the Islamic religion, and every party that can contribute to serving Muslims across the world will receive the support of the Tijaniyyah Order and all its followers, and to work for the dissemination of the values of peace, love and cohesion.
