The Prime Minister: The national sessions of civil society are the culmination of the President of the Republic’s vision of establishing a free and responsible civil society.

Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, affirmed, today, Tuesday in Algiers, that the national sessions of civil society are the culmination of a long process that reflects the vision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to establish a free civil society capable of assuming its responsibilities.

In his speech during his supervision of the opening of the national sessions of civil society, Mr. Benabderrahmane indicated that these sessions “are the culmination of a long process that has been refined by experience and enabled our country to strengthen its institutional fabric for the first time in its history,” adding that the National Civil Society Observatory is “an important gain and another building block.” To impalement the President’s vision of the role and status of civil society within the renaissance project he brought and his commitment to building a free and active civil society capable of assuming its responsibility as a counter-authority and a tool for evaluating public activity in the service of the citizen.

The Prime Minister also considered that holding these sessions “a first step for assessing the work of the observatory since its inauguration in December 2021 and the culmination of the various events and seminars organized across the various states of the country, in order to conduct an appropriate diagnosis of the reality of civil society and to identify its concerns and aspirations while envisioning and controlling mechanisms and ways to promote its role.”

He pointed out, in this regard, that this stage is a ” starting point for laying the foundations for a more organized and effective contribution to the various living forces that make up civil society, and to contribute more to the national development project and to framing and intensifying efforts and initiatives.”

It’s worth noting that these sessions, held under the slogan “Civil Society as a Pillar for Building a New Algeria”, will be marked by the participation of 700 representatives of national and local associations, organizations, unions and the national community abroad.
