Trade Minister opens 2nd International Beverage Industry Fair

The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig opened Monday in Algiers the 2nd International Beverage Industry and Liquid Foods Fair (BEVALG) which runs until March 11 at the Palace of Exhibitions, with the participation of nearly 90 national and foreign companies.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Rezig said that this economic event is an opportunity to promote national products, especially in the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan, but also a space to promote this sector and increase the added value and quality of Algerian products for export.

In this respect, Rezig said that the volume of Algerian beverage exports increases every year, reaching nearly 20 million dollars between 2020 and 2022, a volume exported by 100 Algerian economic operators.

The Minister said he expects a significant increase in exports of these products in 2023 given the strong demand for Algerian beverages, particularly by African markets, welcoming the market access of products from this sector to Arab, European and even American markets.

Algerian beverages “have achieved self-sufficiency and cover the needs of citizens to 100%”, he said, adding that “we were relying heavily on this sector to contribute to the increase in the volume of the country’s non-hydrocarbon exports due to their good quality”.

He also called on economic operators to provide special and promotional offers during the holy month of Ramadhan.

For his part, the commissioner of the exhibition, Djalal Louz, explained that the number of participants and economic operators at this edition, has doubled by about two times compared to the first edition, “and given the large attendance recorded, the area of the exhibition has been expanded by three times”, forecasting 20,000 visitors at this edition.
