Yacine El Mahdi Oualid highlights in Rome the Algerian experience in the field of startups

The Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of Knowledge Economy and Startups, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, highlighted the Algerian experience in the field of startups and the efforts of the government to support them, during his participation in the seventh edition of the Mediterranean Dialogue Conference, hosted by the Italian capital, Rome, from the second to the fourth December, according to a statement issuedtoday, Sunday, by the same Ministry.

During the conference, in which a number of heads of government, ministers of states and representatives of UN bodies participated, Mr. Oualid stressed the efforts made by the Algerian government to support startups and innovation.

On the occasion, the Minister Delegate stressed the “active role” played by Algeria in the Mediterranean region and its readiness for “actual cooperation” in the midst of the economic and technological challenges required in the post-Covid-19 pandemic.

On the sidelines of the conference, Mr. Oualid met with the Secretary of State in charge of Italian International Cooperation, Manlio Di Stefano, and discussed with him prospects for developing cooperation and partnership between the two countries in the field of knowledge economy andstartups, as well as mechanisms for technology transfer, open innovation and the exchange of experiences.

The MinisterDelegate also supervised the signing of a number of agreements between the startup accelerator (ALGERIA VENTURE) and the Italian Innovation Fund (CDP) and the International Network of Small and Medium size Enterprises (INSME) to upgrade the startup ecosystem in Algeria.
