10 people died and 297 injured in traffic accidents in the last 48 hours

Ten people were killed and 297 others sustained injuries of varying severity in different parts of the country, during the period from 3 to 5 February, according to what was reported today, Saturday, by the media services of the Civil Protection.

The statement added that the civil protection services were called to rescue 21 people who were suffering from difficulties and shortness of breath as a result of inhaling carbon monoxide gas emitted from various heating devices and water heaters across several provinces of the national territory, where the necessary aid was provided to the victims on the spot.

The same services also intervened to put out 11 different urban fires in the provinces of Algeria, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Jijel, Annaba, Mila, Batna, Relizane and Sidi Bel Abbas, which led to the death of a 94-year-old woman who was charred as a result of a fire.

With regard to activities related to the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus Covid-19, during the same period, the civil protection units carried out 106 awareness operations across the national territory, urging and reminding the people of the need to respect quarantine rules as well as social distancing, in addition to carrying out 90 sterilization operations across the facility and public structures, especially residential complexes and streets.
