13 people killed and 251 injured in traffic accidents in the last 48 hours

Thirteen people were killed, while 251 others were injured in traffic accidents recorded during the last 48 hours across several provinces, according to what was reported today, Thursday, by the Civil Protection in a statement.

The statement added that the heaviest toll was recorded in Annaba, with the death of 03 people and the injury of one (1) person, as a result of a tourist car deviating and colliding with a tree on National Road No. 44,  and Constantine, with the death of 03 people and the injury of 09 others in an accident on the national road. No. 03.

Civil protection services were called to provide aid to 10 people suffering from breathing difficulties as a result of inhaling carbon monoxide (CO), emitted from various heating devices and water heaters across the wilaya of Bejaia, Batna, Setif, Medea, Saïda and Naâma.

With regard to activities related to the prevention of the spread of the virus (Covid-19), during the same period, the civil protection units across the national territory carried out 26 sensitization operations for the benefit of citizens to remind them of the need to respect social distancing, in addition to carrying out 18 sterilization operations across public and private facilities and structures, residential complexes and streets.

The statement indicated that civil protection personnel intervened after 03 gas explosions followed by a fire in the wilaya of Algiers, Skikda and Ain Defla, which caused burns to three people.
