9 people died and 378 others were injured in traffic accidents in the last 48 hours

Nine people were killed and 378 others were injured in traffic accidents that occurred in different parts of the country during the last 48 hours, according to what was reported today, Saturday, by the General Directorate of Civil Protection.

On the other hand, it was indicated that during the same period, 6 drowning deaths were recorded at the beach in the wilaya of Bejaïa, Mostaganem, Ain Temouchent, Boumerdes and Tlemcen, and one drowning death at the level of water complexes in the wilaya of Ghardaïa.

With regard to activities related to the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), during the same period, the civil protection units carried out, throughout the national territory, 81 awareness-raising operations across 13 provinces (56 municipalities) for the benefit of citizens to remind them of the need to respect the rules of quarantine as well as physical distancing In addition to carrying out 103 sterilization operations across 13 provinces (44 municipalities), through public facilities and structures, especially residential complexes and streets.

It was indicated that the General Directorate of Civil Protection allocated to these two operations 372 civil protection agents of various ranks, 61 ambulances and 45 fire trucks.

In addition to this, the civil protection units extinguished eight (8) urban and different fires at the level of the Wilayas of M’sila, Biskra, Blida, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Ain Defla, Ain Temouchent, El Bayadh and Algiers, and also intervened to extinguish four (4) fires of agricultural crops, in the provinces of Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Oum El Bouaghi and Mila.
