At least 200 quintals of potatoes were recently sold at 50 dinars per kilogram in the governorate of Constantine, said Thursday the local director of trade.
Rachid Hadjel explained that this quantity of potatoes, which was the subject of speculation, was seized in a neighboring province on the 1st of November, as part of the measures taken by the public authorities with the aim of combating speculation that has escalated in the last period.
These initiatives, which fall within the framework of the program to control agricultural products with large consumption, aim in particular to sell this basic food item without intermediaries and at a specific price within the reach of people with limited income, as explained by Hadjel.
