Boxing / Golden Belt Series: Algeria crowned in Guadalajara

The Algerian boxing selection, with twelve medals (5 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze), was crowned at the International Tournament of the Golden Belt Series, the first competition on the program of the “World Boxing Tour”, Friday in Guadalajara in Mexico.

The five gold medals were won by Jughurta Ait Beka (-63 kg) who dominated the Moroccan Abdelhak Nadir, while his compatriot Kadi Mourad (+92 kg) took over the Austrian Hagag Ahmed. Meziane Mohamed El Amine (-51 kg) beat Moroccan Said Mortaji.

Among the women, Imane Khelif (-66 kg), elected best boxer of the tournament, left no chance to her opponent of the day, the Mexican Cruz Sandoval Brianda, who had to give up before the end of the fight.

For his part, Boualem Roumaissa (-50 kg) beat the Mexican Gomez Galicia Ingrid Alexa.

In addition, Khelif Hadjila (-60 kg), Chaib Ichrak (-70 kg), Younes Nemouchi (-80 kg), Yaiche Youcef-Islam (-71 kg) and Hichem Maouche (-57 kg) won silver medals.

The World Boxing Tour aims to establish a unified system of competition, which will provide consistent new opportunities for boxers, and with consistently high standards.

Tour tournaments will allow boxers to compete more regularly against their counterparts from different continents, improving skill levels and the overall experience.

The Tour tournaments will contribute to the new IBA ranking system, which will allow boxers to collect valuable points at each tournament. These points will define not only the most successful boxers at the end of the year, but also the most successful national federations, having generated the best results throughout the season.

The World Boxing Tour is made up of a series of tournaments classified into four categories: the Diamond Belt, Golden Belt, Silver Belt and Bronze Belt tournaments.
