An expo of women’s traditional dress of eastern Algeria will be organized in the province of Constantine, during the African Nations Championship for local players (CHAN-2023), in order to introduce this national heritage to the participating delegations, according to a statement issued today, Wednesday, by the wilaya’s services.
The statement indicated that “this event, which will be organized at the National Public Museum of Arts and Traditional Cultural Expressions, “Ahmed Bey Palace,” comes within the framework of the local revival program that is being prepared in implementation of the instructions of the head of the local executive apparatus, Abdelkhalek Siouda, in anticipation of the seventh edition of the African Nations Championship for local players to be organized from January 13 and February 4, 2023.
The same source added that, “Preparations are currently underway, in coordination with the Directorate of Culture and Arts and the Ahmed Bey Museum Administration, in order to make this event a success, indicating that this expo will also be a space for promoting the traditions that reflect the ancient history of the rock city, such as distilling rose water, orange flowers, and others.”
Constantine velvet will be proposed in the future to be included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), according to the same statement.
