International forum under the title “Image of Islam and Muslims in the West: Past Conflicts, Present Developments and Future Challenges.”

International forum entitled “Image of Islam and Muslims in the West, Past Conflicts, Present Developments and Future Challenges” was launched today, Tuesday, at the University of Blida 02 “Lounissi Ali”,  under the slogan: “Working to correct the image of Islam and Muslims.”

The forum saw the participation of researchers from many foreign countries, especially Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, Senegal, Qatar and America, in addition to more than 130 researchers and academics from various universities in the country.

In a statement to the Algerian TV news website, the forum’s chairwoman, Dr. Bouhella Chahira, indicated that the two-day forum, by discussing “the image of Islam and Muslims in the West”, aims to address the phenomenon of Islamophobia and research the factors of its consecration, and to stand on the most important historical, civilizational and social dimensions that form the image of Islam and Muslims in the other side.

Dr. Bouhella adds, in the same regard, that the forum seeks to search for the reality of the image of Islam and Muslims in the Western media in its various means.

In the same context, the forum chairperson stressed the need to research various ways and methods through which it is possible to correct the image of Islam and Muslims.

Finally, Dr. Bouhella said, “We hope that this scientific forum will be crowned with success.”
