Mostaganem: More than 100,000 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19

More than 104,000 people have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, Mostaganem province Directorate of Health and population reported Thursday.

Province Director of Health and Population Tawfiq Mohammed Khalil said that up to 10 August, 89,880 people received the first dose of the vaccine and another 14,909 received the two necessary doses against coronavirus as part of the national vaccination campaign against the pandemic.

The same source pointed out that the vaccination process, conducted in 104 structures, including 63 public spaces (outside the health sector), is continuing in well and orderly way, highlighting that the province received about 40 thousand vaccine doses.

Regarding the epidemiological situation, the official explained that the rate of confirmed infections among suspected cases “decreased this week to 50 percent compared to the previous weeks, in addition to a decrease recorded in hospitalizations in three covid-hospitals centered to less than 90 cases”.

Mr Khalil added also, that local authorities had to set all the scenarios for dealing with Covid-19 extreme situation including the expansion of the two Covid-19 departments of Mostaganem Ernesto Che Guevara hospital and Sidi Ali Hamadou Hocine hospital.

In the 240 beds hospital of Kharouba city, 100 beds are dedicated to covid 19. The same hospital has been recently equipped with oxygen generator units with a capacity of 10000 liters, concluded Khalil.
